Using Email

Today we continued learning about Email.
We took down notes describing the main features of an email system, and listed the advantages and disadvantages with this.

You had to log on to your own C2K email system, take a screenshot of a new email window, and label the different parts. This should be printed and stuck into your HBB (hard backed book).

Homework:
- Read page 242 in your text book and add in any advantage / disadvantage that we didn't cover in the notes today.

Using the Internet (i)

Today we will continue learning about the Internet.

1) Go to "S:\ICT\GCSE ICT\Theory" on the Datapool.
2) Copy the "Using the Internet" folder over to YOUR OWN "Theory" folder (that you created yesterday).
There are 2 worksheets in this folder.
3) You are to read through "Internet 1" and then answer the questions at the end.
You can EITHER:
  • Write out the answers by hand in your hardbacked book OR
  • Type out your answers in Word (you can use Autoshapes and Clipart to create the diagram in Q7). Stick a print out of the work into your hardbacked book when you are done.

Homework:

  • Complete this task, ensuring that all questions are answered in the book.
  • In your hardbacked book, write 5 sentences describing what you learned / did this week in ICT class.

Extension Work:

Anyone who completes this task early gets a good comment in their daybook, and can begin working on the second worksheet.

Welcome to GCSE ICT!

Hello Gentlemen,

This is our class blog (website) which I will use over the coming two years to let you know what we will do / have done in our ICT lessons.

You will check here for instructions on what activities to do, and required files will be on the datapool in the relevant folder.

Your first task on the PC's is to get your 'My Documents' area organised for all the work we will do.
Today you will create folders for all your GCSE ICT work.

  1. Inside your 'My Documents' area, create a folder called 'GCSE ICT'.

  2. Inside this folder create two other folders 'Theory' and 'Coursework'.

  3. Inside the 'Coursework' folder create 6 more folders:

  • A1 Multimedia

  • A2 Report

  • A3 Web Design

  • B1 Using the Internet

  • B2 Database

  • B3 Spreadsheet

Take a screenshot of all the folders you created, print it out (IT1Mono!) and stick this into your book (glue and scissors available from my desk).

Now in your class hardbacked book write a brief summary of what you did in class.

Write out a short explanation of the printers available in my room. You should be able to write how many credits two of the printers use!

Homework:

  • You are to get a signature from someone at home to say they have seen the web address for the class blog.
  • Make sure you have put a protective back on the text books you were given out!

  • Copy out the 2 pages 232 & 233 "Surfing the Internet" from your textbook.

  • The writing in red should be written into your book in a TABLE.
